Kartchner Caverns is the one MUST SEE tour in Southern Arizona.  If you are on a budget, or have limited time, this is the one tour you want to take.  You may connect with this tour from various Phoenix (Scottsdale) locations or Tucson.

You tour begins with a pickup by a motor coach at Voyager RV Resort located at I-10 and South Kolb (driving directions providing with your confirmation) at 9:30 a.m..  You may opt to join the tour at the, Cortaro Road exit on I-10 (north of Marana) at 9 a.m., or in Peoria, Chandler and various resorts in Scottsdale as early as 6 am.

Your deluxe passenger motorcoach offers air conditioning, the comfort of reclining seats, stereo and a restroom.

Your first stop will the be the amazing Elgin winery in Elgin, Arizona, south of Sonoita. You’ll enjoy the scenic drive through the southern Arizona wine country of the San Pedro Valley. You’ll enjoy tasting eight local varieties of wine. 

Your arrival in Tombstone will give you a flavor of the Old West with lunch at the Crazy Horse Restaurant and a wild west historical reenactment. You’ll have one hour to stroll, shop or your can visit the Tombstone Courthouse, Birdcage Theatre, the Epitaph or the always popular Boot HIll.

From there, our tour takes you to the Kartchner Caverns State Park (full admission, guide service and parking included). Katchner Caverns is one of the top 10 caves in the world. Of those 10 only three are open to the public. Among the three which are open to the public, only Kartchner Caverns is on this continent.

Cave tours are approximately 75 minutes long, 45 minutes are underground. All tours are guided by a trained tour guide. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling: (520)586-CAVE. The cave averages 68°F and 98% humidity year round. All cave trails are barrier-free. Due to wet surfaces and changes in grades, strollers and walkers are not allowed on the tours.

Take time to stroll through Hummingbird Garden, located on the southwest side of the Discovery Center. The walk is lined with a variety of local vegetation. Some of the varieties include: Catclaw Acacia, Velvet Honeysuckle, Beargrass, Yellow Bells, Sandpaper Verbena, Black Spine Prickly Pear, Autumn Sage, Agave, Aloe, Desert Bird of Paradise, Indigo Bush, and Desert Spoon.

Your tour of the Caverns will conclude with a  visit the museum, view a movie about Kartchner Caverns enjoy the offerings at the gift shop. Tours depart the Caverns at 4:00 pm.  Times of arrival, pick-up and departure are approximate and may vary due to traffic conditions.

Information for Parents:
It is not uncommon for young children, six years and under, to become uncomfortable in the cave environment. In these instances, the child and parent will be allowed to leave the cave tour, for their well-being and safety. Please inquire upon check-in, if you have any concerns. Thank you.

Tour guests who will be returning to the Phoenix area will be served a pizza and salad on the way home and will enjoy a movie on the drive back..
