How to Get to Lake Tahoe

If you will be flying to Lake Tahoe, we recommend Reno-Tahoe International Airport in Reno, NV (RNO).  Located just 40 miles north of Zephyr Cove makes it the most efficient way to arrive. Once you arrive, the airport offers many rental car choices. Or if you prefer, South Tahoe Express ( 1-866-89-TAHOE) offers inexpensive shuttle transportation between Reno-Tahoe International Airport and major hotels located within the South Lake Tahoe area.

Driving to Lake Tahoe

From Reno:

From Reno-Tahoe Intl Airport, take US-395 S towards Carson City.  Exit onto US-395 S/S Virginia Street and continue to follow US-395 S. Make a slight right at N Carson St/US-395 BUS S and then a slight right at US HWY-50 W. Continue to follow Highway 50 into South Lake Tahoe. (Total drive time approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes)

From Sacramento

Take Highway 50 East through Placerville and Meyers over Echo Summit. Continue 4.9 miles on combined road CA-89N/US-50E. Once you arrive at the intersection of Hwy 89 and Hwy 50 you will make a right onto Hwy 50 and follow this into South Lake Tahoe. (Total drive time approximately 2 hours)

From San Francisco

First take I-80 East into Sacramento. From there, take Highway 50 East through Placerville and Meyers over Echo Summit. Continue 4.9 miles on combined road CA-89N/US-50E. Once you arrive at the intersection of Hwy 89 and Hwy 50 you will make a right onto Hwy 50 and follow this into South Lake Tahoe. (Total drive time approximately 4 hours)

 

From San Jose

Take Highway 680N to I-80E into Sacramento. From there, take Highway 50 East through Placerville and Meyers over Echo Summit. Continue 4.9 miles on combined road CA-89N/US-50E. Once you arrive at the intersection of Hwy 89 and Hwy 50 you will make a right onto Hwy 50 and follow this into South Lake Tahoe. (Total drive time approximately 4 hours)
