[Verde Canyon Railroad] [Railroad FAQ] [Red Rock Balloons] [Sky High Balloons] [To Grand Canyon] [Air Tours]

Are you looking for the Grand Canyon Railway tours?  We have information posted here.

What’s the difference? The Verde Canyon Railroad is more affordable and can be done as a day trip from Sedona or Phoenix, while the Grand Canyon Railway usually requires an overnight stay at Williams or Flagstaff.

The Verde Canyon Railroad travels on a 38-mile line through some of the most scenic and remote areas in Arizona.  Originally established for the copper mining industry, today the railroad travels from Clarksdale, Arizona to the ghost ranch of Perkinsville for a truly historic adventure.  You’ll have a 15-minute stop at a ghost ranch before the train heads back to the depot.

This is an excellent day trip from Sedona and most tours are accessible from Phoenix without an overnight stay.   Many times, even last minute trips can be accommodated. This is an excellent tour for families.

There are a variety of tours offered throughout the year, most providing experiences unique to the Verde Canyon Railroad.

STEP ONE.  Decide on lodging.

You’ll need to decide if you are doing a day trip, or want an overnight.  From Phoenix, Clarkdale is approximately 2 hours away (MAP HERE), making most afternoon tours accessible.  Many people opt for an overnight after their return.  You’ll want to look for hotel rooms in Cottonwood, Clarkdale or Jerome.  We have listings here.  If you are going on to other destinations, you can usually drive as far as Flagstaff after the return.  Tusayan and the Grand Canyon are about 3 hours away.  This can be a bit much for one day.

If you are staying in Sedona, allow approximately 40 minutes travel time and please arrive one hour prior to departure. We have listing of Sedona properties here
