If you have never reserved a Lake Powell houseboat, this overview will give you a general idea of what to expect. Not all reservations follow this process, this is to give you an idea of what you might expect when making reservations. Tips have been included for expediting your request.
1. FILL OUT OUR RESERVATION FORM
After determining the houseboat size, departure marina, duration and dates of departure please fill out the reservation form at: reserve.htm. You will have greater success if you provide first and second choices for your reservation and a range of departure dates. You can
help us out by checking with your group BEFORE submitting a request to be sure that each party is in agreement with schedules. Please use the comment field as needed, each request is
reviewed by a member of our staff and your questions will be answered.
All e-mail will carry either your last name in the subject field or "Lake Powell". We may telephone you with the information, so please provide a number.
We do not use your name or address on mailing lists. You will not receive telemarketing calls from our company. We
must provide your daytime telephone number to the houseboat company in order to process your request. We do not give out your email address.
You will not receive spam email from us or any other company as a result of filling out our form.
2. WE SEND YOU ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF YOUR REQUEST
Generally, an acknowledgment of your request will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours (sometimes a bit longer over holidays and weekends). At that time, we will attempt to address any
questions you have submitted on your form. Please note that we do NOT use an autoresponder. If you do not receive an acknowledgment within 72 hours, please check your email address and
resubmit.
This usually means your e-mail address was typed incorrectly on the form. We may attempt to contact you by telephone if a number has been provided to verify your e-mail address.
3. WE PROCESS YOUR REQUEST
We will send to you, via e-mail, a confirmation showing your reservation. If your specific request was not available, we will attempt to find the closest available reservation. We do not charge a fee to use our service so please keep this in mind when submitting a form.
It is important that you understand the cancellation and change policy as there may be fees associated with any changes in your reservation after you have paid your deposit. We
recommend you accept only a boat or reservation you are willing to take.
4. YOU PAY YOUR DEPOSIT
Assuming you have received a reservation and would like to accept it, you will pay your deposit, generally within 24 hours of the reservation being made (sooner if your departure date is
approaching in the near future). Powerboats and tours at Wahweap Marina and Bullfrog require your credit card up front.
Deposits for houseboats, powerboats and hotel rooms WILL BE CHARGED to the credit card provided, and if the rental fee is due, that will be charged as well. Credit cards for tours are used to hold the reservation only.
Your deposit may be split up between multiple credit cards if you desire. You may use our secure server to submit your payment information. Please note that once you pay a deposit,
cancellation or changes made in your reservation may result in loss of a portion of your deposit or rental fee (if paid). It is strongly recommended that you read and understand the
cancellation and change policy included with your confirmation before you pay. If you have any questions, our staff will be delighted to assist you with understanding the policy. The
cancellation policy is included with your confirmation.
If you DO NOT pay your deposit BEFORE the date specified on your confirmation, your reservation will be cancelled automatically.
5. WE ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR DEPOSIT
If you used our secure server, we will send you a message acknowledging receipt of your credit card information. YOUR DEPOSIT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED
PAID UNTIL THE CARD/PAYMENT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY PROCESSED.
6. WE E-MAIL YOU A RECEIPT
Once your payment has been processed, we will send you up updated confirmation as a receipt. These are sent via US Mail. Please give us your real address.
7. YOU DECIDE ON LODGING
While powerboats, watertoys, etc. may be added any time during the reservation process, it is strongly recommended you secure lodging the night before and the night after if needed. This
should be started immediately after receiving your houseboat reservation. Lodging can be extremely limited during the summer months and some marinas are very remote. Our communications to
you will include information on obtaining lodging.
8. YOU PAY YOUR RENTAL PAYMENT
You will need to pay your rental fee within 45 days to 60 days prior to departure. This is generally the amount of your houseboat rental, plus tax. You may simply drop us an e-mail
authorizing the credit card on file to be charged, or send us a different credit card. Complete details on making your payment will be included with the message. Please note
that if, for any reason, we do not remind you of your payment, YOU ARE STILL OBLIGATED TO MAKE YOUR FINAL PAYMENT by the due date
. For instance, if you change email addresses, you will need to ensure that this payment is made by the due date.
9. WE ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR RENTAL FEE AND SEND YOU A RECEIPT
Please note that your rental fee will not be considered paid until the card/payment has been processed.
Once processed we will send you a receipt.
10. YOU ARRIVE AT THE MARINA.
On your departure date, you report to the Boat Rental office for final paperwork. This takes approximately 30 minutes to one hour or more, depending on the number of houseboats departing
that day. There MAY be an option of completing your paperwork the night before your departure date, so please ask.
You will be given the option to purchase a waiver of liability and be asked to fill out paperwork. You then walk down the docks and an instructor will take you to your houseboat for check
out and training. If there is something amiss with your boat (such as not enough cups or plates), NOW is the time to address it. Pay attention when checking out your boat and ask
questions if you do not fully understand how to operate equipment. Your instructor will move the houseboat away from the dock and teach you to operate it properly. The instructor will
stay with you until you are comfortable. Tipping the instructor $10 to $20 will be appreciated by the staff and usually results in a speedy check-in on your return. We
recommend tipping fuel dock workers $5.
11. YOU LOAD YOUR BOAT AND START YOUR VACATION
This is where planning and organization pay off. Enjoy fishing, watersports and the incredible Lake Powell scenery.
12. YOU RETURN, FILL UP YOUR BOAT, UNLOAD AND CLEAN
Before 2 p.m. on the last day of your rental or as specified at the marina, you must fill your boat with fuel and obtain a slip from the attendant.
Fillling these large tanks can take several minutes, so plan ahead to allow plenty of time. You return to the docks, unload your gear, clean the boat (make sure dishes are cleaned and put
away, wipe counters, remove garbage, etc.) This must be completed by 2 p.m. An employee will check out your boat for damage. We recommend tipping this person $10. Assuming everything is
in order, you will be given paperwork and return to the Boat Rental office. Approximately 10 to 14 days after your return, your deposit will be refunded in the same manner it was paid. If
you used a credit card, a refund will be applied.
