There's nothing like wetting a line at Lake Powell. With miles of shoreline, 96 major canyons, and hundreds of shady coves, a fishing vacation here may be the best of your life. Great trout fishing can be had at Lee's Ferry, just about an hour drive from Page. Whether you're angling to land a catfish or a crappie, fishing is perfect for the entire family.

There are a few things you need to know before trolling for the big one. Lake Powell lies in both Utah and Arizona, so you'll need a special license if you plan to fish in both states (Lee's Ferry is in Arizona). An ARIZONA LICENSE with a Lake Powell stamp for can be purchased in Page at a number of locations (we recommend Stix Market on Lake Powell Boulevard or Fred's Liquor Store where they offer free ice). Utah offers a reciprocal fishing stamp for Arizona residents to fish Lake Powell, as well. UTAH FISHING LICENSE fees are listed below.

We have tried to be as comprehensive as possible regarding our information provided here, however, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU OBTAIN A COPY OF REGULATIONS FOR BOTH ARIZONA AND UTAH BEFORE FISHING LAKE POWELL. Limits and regulations are subject to change -- know before you go. TELEPHONE NUMBERS AND ADDRESSES are listed at the bottom of this page.

For anglers looking to land a striper (a 20 pounder isn't unusual), anchovies are your best bet.

You can check current fishing conditions by calling the toll-free information line at 1-800-275-3474 during the season. Complete 2001 regulations are available to DOWNLOAD (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
