If You Decide to Drive Inside the Park.
If you are planning on taking your own car inside the Park, you will be stopped at the entrance
station and charged a fee. What they won't tell you is that you can purchase a "National Parks Pass" which allows you to enter a number of other destinations. If you are
planning on visiting other federally-operated parks (not state or tribal), ask about purchasing one of these.
Also, be sure to buy the 7 day pass (same price as the one day) so you can go back in and out
without paying.
If you are interested in avoiding crowds and saving some money, stay outside the Park in
Tusayan. There are many beautiful newer hotels and restaurants. If you stay inside the Grand Canyon Park, you should understand that many of those hotels do not have air conditioning. We recommend you stay in Tusayan.
